The electromagnetic suspension maglev vehicle is driven by the long stator linear motor, and the stators are laid along the track. Therefore, the step-changing method is adopted to supply power to the linear motor in sections to reduce energy consumption and ensure the terminal voltage of the motor. The long stator linear synchronous motor step-changing mode of high-speed maglev vehicle was studied, and by comparing the influence of the step-changing characteristics of two-step method and three-step method on traction characteristics and dynamic performance of maglev vehicle, the applicable operating conditions of the two step-changing modes were analyzed. The simulation results showed that the two-step method could be used in uniform velocity segment to reduce equipment investment, the three-step method had better performance than the two-step method and had higher propulsion capability.
