In order to adapt to the development requirements of fast freight transportation, a 250 km/h freight EMUs traction converter was designed by optimizing the control of the rectifier, traction inverter and auxiliary inverter of the existing converter.The simulation results showed that the improved algorithm could improve the quality of the current signal at the grid side, reduce the harmonic content of the auxiliary converter output voltage, and improve the imbalance between the voltages of the auxiliary converter output. Functional and research tests showed that the temperature rise results met the actual requirements, and the type tests also verified the rationality of the electrical system design of 250 km/h freight EMUs.
