The structure and technical characteristics of several typical foreign gauge-changeable bogies were briefly introduced, and the development idea and research method of domestic gauge-changeable bogie for EMUs and freight car were provided. In the application of gauge-changeable bogies, the railway standard system and climate conditions should be considered to adapt to the application environment and requirements of gauge-changeable countries. In order to ensure the achievement and safety of the gaugechangeable bogies for high-speed EMUs, 3 aspects should be considered: inheritance, maturity and innovation, as well as a full line test should be carried out.
