To investigate the effects of the wheelset mass center of axle-mounted driving system on the hunting stability, a simplified model of single-wheelset driving system with two degrees of freedom was established. The result showed that the stability of drive system mass center in the front was better than that in the back, which explained the asymmetrical hunting phenomenon for 2C0 locomotives with axle-mounted driving system.
