Electric Drive for Locomotives was founded in 1960 and is publicly distributed at home and abroad. The journal has been selected as a Chinese Core Journal and a Key Magazine of China Technology. It is one of the earliest journals in China in the field of rail traction power technology, and also one of the first nationally recognized academic journals. The journal was formerly known as "Electric Locomotives", and was officially renamed to its current title "Electric Drive for Locomotives" in 1972.
