Research on Selection and Protection Strategy of Voltage-Limiting Resistor in Traction Converters
The basic principle of over voltage suppression for voltage-limiting chopper circuit of traction converters was introduced in details, and the selection criteria of voltage-limiting resistor was provided. Newton's law of cooling was derived to obtain the real-time estimation formula of the voltage-limiting resistor temperature, and the over voltage protection strategy of the resistor was proposed. The results of temperature estimation of the voltage-limiting resistor were given through experiments, and the effectiveness of the over voltage suppression method used was proved.
