Influence of Polygon Wheel on Dynamic Performance of Meter-gauge Locomotive
In order to study the influence of the polygon wheel of meter-gauge locomotive on the dynamic performance of the vehicle system, a dynamic model of meter-gauge locomotive was established. The influence of harmonic order and the amplitude of the wave depth of the polygon wheel on the dynamic performance were calculated. The wave depth limit of the locomotive was studied at different harmonic order. At last, the change trend of wheel-rail vertical forces was studied under the joint action of polygon wheel and track excitation. The results showed that due to the low running speed of the meter-gauge locomotive, the polygon wheel will form low frequency vibration which will increase the vibration response of the car body; the polygon wheel will greatly increase the wheel-rail vertical forces, but it has little effect on the derailment coefficient; the wave depth limit is inversely proportional to the running speed of the locomotive and the harmonic order; the track excitation will not cover the trend caused by polygon wheel, but it will greatly increase the wheel-rail vertical forces. Therefore, it’s necessary to detect the wheel out of roundness frequently when the locomotive is running on rail, and lathing or replacing wheel in time in order to prevent the wheel-rail vertical forces is too large or the jumping of wheels.
